SMMC offers free screenings
August 12, 2008
More than 10 million Americans unknowingly suffer from Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD), putting them at risk for heart attack, stroke and Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA).
To combat this largely unknown and potentially deadly condition, Shawnee Mission Medical Center will offer a free vascular screening for PVD, Stroke and AAA from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 16 in the hospital's radiology department, 9100 W. 74th Street.
Early detection and treatment are critical for both PVD and AAA because there are no obvious symptoms until a critical problem arises.
Check-in for the screening will be in the Cedarwood Room of SMMC's Radiology department.Pre-registration is required. For more information or to register, call 676-7777.

Talking points
Do you think it’s worth it to shop on “Black Friday?”
“I didn’t go, because I knew there would be crowds and I didn’t want to deal with it. But I did see some things I wanted, and I thought I’d go get them the next day.”
